Hanon McShea

Ph.D. Student in Earth System Science

Hanon studies the evolutionary history and modern diversity of triterpenoid cyclase enzymes. This project uses genetic and biochemical tools to characterize the function and structure of noncanonical triterpenoid cyclases from diverse organisms and environments, and evolutionary theory to understand the selective pressures that drove diversification. Outside of lab, Hanon can be found looking after Basil the ball python, watching bird nest livestreams, or in the woods looking for salamanders.
